Summary of thesis

My PhD project aims at investigating the spatial and temporal variability of biodiversity and ecosystem functions in the soil of a riparian floodplain along a restored reach of river Thur, in the North Eastern of Switzerland.

More specifically, it will focus on the communities of soil bacteria and fungi, and the processes tightly linked to the carbon balance. Communities and soil processes patterns and relationships will be analyzed in the temporal and spatial heterogeneity point of view and under the influence of floodplain restoration.
