Effects of pesticides and parasites on bumblebees (Bombus terrestris)

We will investigate the individual and combined effects of pathogens/parasites and environmental pollutants on bumblebee, Bombus terrestris. We will empirically assess the consequences of these multiple pressures on individual and colony fitness in these species. The experiments will be complemented with molecular data from immune response assays. Further, we seek to fill knowledge gaps concerning the interspecific transfer of parasites and pathogens among and from managed to wild pollinators.
