Summary of thesis

Social insects are characterized by extreme phenotypic plasticity in which different phenotypes within the same colony can be produced depending on environmental conditions, despite the high level of genetic relatedness. I am interested in the distinctive worker sizes at different life stages, observed between colony founding stage and established colony, and particularly the potential maternal effect that could influence this phenotype.
