Bioinformatics analysis of posttranscriptional gene regulation

During my project I will analyze different data from next generation sequencing experiments (RNA-seq, small RNA-seq, CLIP), using already existing tools and eventually developing new ones for specific purposes. My aim is to elucidate the role of the protein FUS/TLS in many different processes of post-transcriptional regulation. Therefore I will often have to compare wildtype to knockdown conditions, finding statistically significant differences. FUS/TLS is known to be involved in certain cases of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). My research will hopefully contribute to a better understanding of the disease.
