MPS PhD Retreat: ‘Growing Up In Science’

The road to earning a PhD is often long and requires much effort. It can be challenging to prepare for this academic journey, either if one wants to stay in academia or move to other fields. The advice and guidance of colleagues who choose different pathways in life and their career is extremely valuable. This may help navigating through the PhD and might facilitate to decide which path to take after finishing the PhD trajectory.

For the 2023 CUSO PhD retreat, we propose to bring speakers from the Molecular Plant Science-related fields, to share their choices and experiences they made in their careers. The meeting will take place in a very relaxed and informal environment. Topics such as dealing with expectations, impostor syndrome, luck, rejections, and work-life balance will be included in the speaker`s broader narrative. Additionally, participants are required to prepare posters and give flash talks about their projects.

The event is scheduled for the 5th (half-day) and 6th (full-day) of June in Davos – (Davos Youth Hostel).
