Description

This 3-day workshop is an ideal opportunity to leap into writing for PhD students in the early phases of writing their first publication. The target audience for this workshop are PhD students who have thus far not had the opportunity to attend a formal scientific writing course and who have not received formal training in writing scientific publications. The workshop provides opportunity and time for participants to boost their progress in writing and publishing scientific articles through a mixture of input, discussion and work on own texts. The course instructors will be available for personal one-on-one support during the time when participants work on their own texts.

Information

Preparatory work:

No later than one week prior to the course, participants must submit

  • A short (informal and unedited) summary or abstract (only a few sentences or a paragraph) of their current work. This will give the instructor an idea of their research topics and writing. The draft must be written without the help an online translation tool or AI.
  • A copy what they consider to be a 'model article' (in English) in their specific field of research. The article should be from a high-impact international journal, and the type of study should be similar theirs. They should also bring this model article to class where we will use it as a source of stylistic and rhetorical information.
