Detailed information about the course
Title | Advanced Molecular Cloning |
Dates | 14 January 2019 |
Organizer(s) | Paolo Longoni, Dr., UNINE |
Speakers | Vincent Bernard, Representative for NEB Molecular cloning products, BioConcept, Allschwil, CH Sylvestre Marillonnet, Dr., Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB) Halle, Germany Geoffrey Fucile, Dr., Biozentrum, University of Basel, CH |
Description | The course is organized in collaboration with the Interuniversity Doctoral Program in Organismal Biology of Neuchâtel (DP-Biol).
The aim of the workshop is to provide a theoretical and practical basis to the PhD students on the most recent technologies for the molecular cloning. The course is divided in two parts:
The morning part is a theoretical introduction of the techniques in the form of two seminars, one dedicated to the methods and the second on a platform for the molecular cloning (the MoClo system). Later in the afternoon the students will have some time (depending on the number of the participants) to present their own research interest with particular focus on the possible issues they have with molecular cloning.
The second part of the workshop, in the afternoon, will be dedicated to in silico work, in detail; each student will develop its own cloning strategy and designing the primers required for the cloning. The students will be supervised and advised by the organisers and the intervening speakers. The developed cloning strategies will be tested in silico and discussed collectively.
The students will be invited to perform the developed strategy after the workshop, a troubleshooting assistance will be offered by e-mail.
