Description |
The objective of this workshop is to learn about and reflect on the challenges for a sustainable agriculture that provides food security for future generations. During this workshop participants will be confronted with and discuss the challenges that researchers and policy makers are facing in their efforts to assure food security for future generations in a sustainable manner. This workshop will host some of the most internationally renowned scientists and policy makers in the field of agriculture from Africa, Brazil, the UK, and Switzerland. During this highly interactive workshop, the experts will present and discuss their vision of the future of agriculture, with an emphasis on the approaches that are needed to achieve worldwide food security for the generations to come. Topics will range from climate-smart agriculture, microbial soil health, alternatives to pesticides, insects as food, and compromises between organic versus intensive agriculture. Special emphasis will also be on improving gender equality, as well as socio-economic equity and justice through agriculture. During roundtable discussions, and rendition presentations, the participants will have the opportunity to challenge and critically discuss the experts' visions. |
