Detailed information about the course
Title | Introduction to protein structure analysis and AlphaFold |
Dates | 11-12 June 2025 |
Lang | Workshop language is English |
Organizer(s) | Pre Julia Santiago, UNIL |
Speakers | Pre Julia Santiago, UNIL |
Description | This two-day training session will provide the basics of protein structure determination and how this information is stored in databases and how you can download them and visualize it. We will use AlphaFold to predict protein structures and compare them with real structures. We will also investigate how to find homologous structures via 3D searches, and to design mutants. The second half of the course will be dedicated to use these tools to your own research question, that you might want to address via structural predictions. Required skills: Students will need their own laptop with enough memory left to install and operate the softwares. Software demonstrated: > The course will not be targeted for Plant Biologists, even if we use plant proteins as an example. That would be applicable to any person that wants to do protein analysis. |
