THIS COURSE HAS BEEN CANCELED. A NEW COURSE WILL BE ORGANISED IN 2021.
During the workshop you will be confronted with the challenges that researchers and policy makers are facing in their efforts to assure food security for future generations in a sustainable manner.
The focus will be on developing countries and the workshop will also be attended by students from the masters module Sustainable Agriculture and by foreign students that participate in the Masters of Advance Studies in Integrated Crop Management (MAS-ICM, in collaboration with CABI, Delemont). |
Program |
Schedule: 8h45 - 17h00
1st day: Morning: Introduction (explaining CABI's activities in sustainable agriculture and introducing the Plantwise program). MAS-ICM students will present the agricultural challenges in their respective home country. They will present in groups of two (six 15-minute presentations). Afternoon: Three of the invited experts will present their visions for a sustainable agriculture in presentations of 30 minutes each. There will be 10 min for discussion after each talk.
2nd day: Morning: The remaining four invited experts will present their visions (30 minutes plus 10 min discussion. Afternoon: Roundtable discussion with experts and the students (three groups, topics will be chosen during the workshop).
3rd day: Morning: the students prepare their final presentations in which they address the main challenges and possible solutions (six presentations in total). Afternoon: the students give their group presentations (six 15-minute presentations) on how sustainable agriculture may be achieved, taking into account what learned during the speakers contributions and discussions.
