Description

The goal of this activity is to illustrate how fundamental microbiology research has enabled innovations in biotechnology. Here, we will detail examples in which serendipitous discoveries in bacteriological research have opened doors for new biotechnological applications and we will contrast this to other cases where hypothesis-driven translational research with microbes has been conducted to discover molecules of pharmaceutical value. We anticipate that this examples will prompt the entrepreneurship and innovative thinking of CUSO doctoral students.
