Description

To continue in our series of visits to broaden your views of career path after your PhD in Molecular Plant Sciences, and after visiting in the past years a few plant biotech companies in Europe, we are this year planning a visit to the Swiss Federal Research Stations (Agroscope) at Reckenholz and Wädenswil (both near Zurich).

Both research stations feature projects in plant molecular biology, including in genetics, plant-insect interactions, and a large experimental field for testing GMO and plants produced by genome editing (read more HERE).

Program

PRELIMINARY PROGRAM

In Reckenholz:

- Soil ecological engineering and microbiome (Dr. Marcel van der Heijden)
- Field trials with GM plants including visit of the protected Site (Dr. Andrea Patocchi)

In Wädenswil:

- Apple breeding and genetics (Dr. Markus Kellerhals)
- Selected subjects in entomology (Dr. Dominique Mazzi) and/or nematology (Dr. Paul Dahlin)
- Selected subjects extension (Low input trial) (Dr. Andreas Naef)

Location

Agroscope Reckenholz & Agroscope Wädenswil

Information

Travel to both stations will be done from Zurich train station, either by public transport or by a rental van.

Either way, students need to arrive at Zurich for 9h30-10h00 am.
The visit would end around 16h00-17h00 pm.

More precision on the schedule and travel organization will be provided.

Expenses

Reimbursements for CUSO MPS students

Train ticket, 2°class, half-fare from your institution to the place of the activity.
NO reimbursement for meal expenses.

Reimbursement form attached with original tickets has to be sent to the MPS coordinator Zoia Debora at University of Lausanne, Department of Molecular Plant Biology, Biophore - quartier UNIL-Sorge, 1015 Lausanne.
