Detailed information about the course
Title | Plant Imaging: Advanced Light Microscopy [FULL] |
Dates | 14-15 February 2019 |
Organizer(s) | Sylvain Loubéry, Dr., Plant Imaging Unit, UNIGE |
Speakers | Sylvain Loubéry, Dr., Plant Imaging Unit, UNIGE |
Description | The course is organized in collaboration with the Interuniversity Doctoral Program in Organismal Biology of Neuchâtel (DP-Biol).
The course will focus on light microscopy, and the objective of the course is two-fold:
Part of the course will consist in lectures (basic and advanced optical microscopy, sample preparation, image analysis) and part of it will consist in hands-on sessions (confocal and widefield microscopy, image analysis). During the hands-on sessions, all participants will use at least three different set-ups, including widefield as well as CLSM confocal microscopes. Participants are welcome to bring their own samples.
This training course will be of value to anyone wanting to gain experience in modern fluorescence microscopy. In addition to the hands-on parts, the course will include tutorials on the theory and practice of current plant imaging techniques, as well as of image analysis. The Plant Imaging Unit at UniGE is experimented in a variety of plant microscopy modalities.
Prerequisites: Participants are expected to have prior experience with microscopy (and preferably with confocal microscopy). Participants will be asked to bring their own laptops for the image analysis hand-on session. |
