Bacterial "species": Introduction to microbial culture collection and identification

In this course, the participants are introduced to the current identification techniques for micro-organisms on the species level and get a brief introduction into bacterial taxonomy. In practical exercises, the participants can test different identification methods and compare the results. The following techniques will be introduced: MALDI TOF, fatty acid and biochemical profiling, partial DNA sequencing and whole genome sequencing.

Please take with you a laptop capable of internet access. The ZHAW provides internet access through Eduroam, make sure you know how to access your Eduroam account.Please bring along also a lot of questions!
