Dr Marta Bellone, CUSO EE coordinator, University of Fribourg

Speakers

Dr Romain-Daniel Gosselin, CHUV, Lausanne

The sessions include lectures and a workshop where attendees can apply their newfound skills in critically analysing the statistics in published articles.

Program

Course content:

  • Biostatistics: why and when? A short (and digestible) introduction to biostatistics; Statistical inference: testing an hypothesis; Statistical design: power, independence of variables, randomization; handling missing data.
  • Analysis: Selection of statistical tests; Parametric vs. non-parametric tests; Regression and correlation; Multiple comparisons: ANOVA and beyond; Introduction to linear models; The problem of p-values; bits of odds-ratios and related concepts.
