Summary of thesis

My research aims to connect hierarchical levels of biological organization: how microbiome symbiosis contributes to individual neurophysiology of social bees, how these effects influence colony-level behavior, and how microbially modulated colonies in turn affect ecosystem processes such as pollination. I will utilize multi-omic and microbiological analyzes and assays alongside behavioral tracking and colony performance experiments to disentangle causative associations between gut microbial symbionts and host health and behavior.
