Title

Engineering bacterial self-organizing living materials

Author Roberto AVENDANO VEGA

Co-director of thesis Prof. Stephan Gruber
Summary of thesis

This project is a first step towards the establishment of gene expression programs that allow the engineering of living materials that autonomously self-organize themselves in space and time to produce user-defined patterns at the macroscopic scale. This will consist a set of synthetic circuits (modules) to generate a variety of different spatiotemporal patterns in biofilms based on the expression of curli fibers suitable to produce functionalized living materials.
