Summary of thesis

“Variation of testate amoeba functional traits across environmental gradients in Holarctic peatlands” was chosen as my Ph.D. research topic. I am interested in revealing spatial patterns of testate amoeba functional traits distribution across large geographical areas, ecological gradients, and in relation to ecosystem functioning at multiple scales. I am aiming to create a curated database (with regional and global data) with testate amoeba community and trait data all over Holarctic, abiotic and biotic variables, and georeferencing. It will be designed to be open and easily available with the possibility to expand it further with the data newly acquired. It will be a useful and convenient tool for any type of analysis, and it will contribute to the further practical implementation of the functional trait approach.
