Detailed information about the course
Title | Plant Imaging: Advanced Light Microscopy 2021 |
Dates | 28-29 January 2021 |
Organizer(s) | Sylvain Loubéry, Dr., UNIGE |
Speakers | Sylvain Loubéry, Dr., Plant Imaging Unit, UNIGE |
Description | The course will focus on light microscopy, and the objective of the course is two-fold:
PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH MICROSCOPY (and preferably with confocal microscopy). Part of the course will consist in lectures (basic and advanced optical microscopy, sample preparation, image analysis) and part of it will consist in hands-on sessions (confocal and widefield microscopy, image analysis). During the hands-on sessions, all participants will use at least three different set-ups, including widefield as well as CLSM confocal microscopes. Participants are welcome to bring their own samples. This training course will be of value to anyone wanting to gain experience in modern fluorescence microscopy. In addition to the hands-on parts, the course will include tutorials on the theory and practice of current plant imaging techniques, as well as of image analysis. The Plant Imaging Unit at UniGE is experimented in a variety of plant microscopy modalities.
Prerequisites: The participants are expected to have prior experience with microscopy (and preferably with confocal microscopy). Participants will be asked to bring their own laptops for the image analysis hand-on session. |
Program | Schedule : 9h00 - 17h00 Find here attached the Program of the course: PROGRAM PLANT IMAGING 2021 |
Location |
University of Geneva, Building “Sciences III”, room 0059 |
Information | The participants will bring their own samples and their own laptops for this course. The course is organized in collaboration with the Interuniversity Doctoral Program in Organismal Biology of Neuchâtel.
IMPORTANT COVID SAFETY REGULATIONS Unige regulations require that everyone inside the building wears a mask as long as they are not sitting at least 1.5 m from another person. Consequently, participants will have to wear a mask all day, except (probably, required the room is large enough) during the lectures. During the microscopy hands-on, groups of three students will be sitting at a microscope with a teacher, and masks will have to be worn at these times as well. |
