CUSO MPS PhD Retreat: First Steps in Academia After the PhD

After the phD several doors open to us: one of them is a career in academia. Even if this is the "classic" path, few information is easily available about how to pursue it.

What is important to consider when choosing an academic career? How to choose and find the most suitable post-doc position (university/institutes/companies, location, supervisor…)? Why and how to obtain a grant for a post-doc position? Which grants can be considered?

These and other aspects on how to build a career in academia after a PhD will be discussed together with speakers from the Molecular Plant Science-related fields that will share the choices and experiences they made in their careers.

Additionally, participants will prepare posters and give short talks about their projects. The meeting will take place in a relaxed and informal environment to promote open discussions.
