Description

For this workshop we will invite some of the most renowned scientists and policy makers in the field of agriculture.
During this highly interactive workshop, the experts will present and discuss their vision on the future of agriculture, with an emphasis on the approaches that are needed to achieve worldwide food security for the generations to come.
During roundtable discussions and their own summarizing presentations the students will have the opportunity to challenge and critically discuss the visions of the experts.

The workshop will take place at the university of Neuchâtel (or ONLINE if the situation will require it) and will be organized in collaboration with CABI Europe-Switzerland.

Program

Program (PDF)

1st day:

Morning: Introduction (explaining CABI's activities in sustainable agriculture and introducing the Plantwise program). MAS-ICM graduates present the agricultural challenges in their respective home country. Afternoon: Invited experts present their visions for a sustainable agriculture

 

2nd day:

Morning: Invited experts present their visions for a sustainable agriculture. Afternoon: Roundtable discussion with experts and the students (topics will be defined during the workshop).

 

3rd day:

Morning: Students prepare their final presentations in which they address the main challenges and possible solutions. Afternoon: Students give a group presentations (15 minutes per group) on how sustainable agriculture may be achieved, taking into account what they learned during the speakers contributions and discussions

The course is organized in collaboration with the CUSO Doctoral Programmes in Molecular Plant Sciences (MPS), Microbial Sciences and the Doctoral Programme in Organismal Biology of Neuchâtel (DPOB).

Reimbursements

Reimbursements for CUSO EE students:

- Train ticket, 2nd class, half-fare from the central train station of your university to the place of the activity. - NO reimbursement for your meal expenses.

Free for participants enrolled in the CUSO doctoral programs.
In case of cancellations before the official deadline (27.04.2022): free
Late cancellations or no-show: Administrative fee of 50 CHF will be demanded.
