Speakers | Dr. Remo Schmidt (AGS, local organizer) |
Description | The main aim of the "discovery days" is to show graduate students some examples of the diverse career paths they could take after completing their PhD. Beyond "classical" academic careers, many avenues are open to life sciences graduates, which is especially true for microbiologists, given the versatility of microbes. Every year, students will have the opportunity during one day to plunge into the specific work environment of a researcher in microbiology, e.g. in the clinical, forensic, environmental or food sector. We start this series with food microbiology and will visit the Agroscope in Liebefeld (federal research station). The program will contain both insights into current research topics (short talks by experts) and practical work, while allowing enough time for social interactions with the local researchers and for networking. |
