Description

Blogs and Twitter are increasingly used for scientific communication, e.g.:
- pre-print discussion of results
- discussion of published results
- discussion of scientific and related policies
- networking
- literature updates
- methodological updates

In this course, we will cover both why a scientist might want to blog or tweet, and how to do it most efficiently to fulfill your aims.

Program

Day 1: Introduction to Blogging
Why? how? why not?
Types of blogging
Finding interesting information in blogs and commenting

Day 2: Create your blog
Practical aspects
Discussion of topics, obstacles, challenges, motivation.

Day 3: Twitter
How it works; creating and using your account for science.

Day 4: Linking everything
Establishing a strategy, using other tools (Facebook, Reddit, LinkedIn, etc.)
