Description

The CUSO satellite activity of the Swiss Virology Meeting 2014 consists of a half-day activity specifically for Ph.D students in microbiology. The topic of application of viruses in gene therapy for the treatment of human genetic diseases is a subject of great interest in biomedical research. For the Satellite Activity, CUSO will invite Prof. Michael Linden, a major researcher in that field. Prof. Linden will give a plenary talk and, together with Prof. Cornel Fraefel, an expert from Switzerland, organize an interactive session for the students. In one part, students will give oral presentations on their own work in virology with implications for gene therapy and the second part will consist of a round-table discussion (lunch session) with Profs Linden and Fraefel where the students will discuss the key scientific concepts with the experts.
