Description

CONTENT OF THE WORKSHOP

Innate immunity represents the first line of defense of all living organisms against pathogen infection. The past years have seen a virtual explosion in our knowledge about these first and fundamental mechanisms of defense. A group of experts will provide an overview over basic concepts and cutting-edge research on innate immunity against viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites. This theoretical overview will be complemented by a student activity consisting of the presentation and discussion of high impact articles in this highly dynamic domain. In the following discussion with the experts will allow the students to link the latest achievements in the field to the basic concepts covered in the first part of the workshop.
