Title

Data wrangling and plotting with R (tidyr, dplyr, ggplot) (2016)

Dates

4 March 2016

Organizer(s)

Malie Lessard-Therrien, PhD student, University of Bern

Caroline Betto-Colliard, Coordinator, CUSO

Speakers

Dr Etienne Low-Decarie, University of Essex (UK)

Description

A larger proportion of time analysing data is spent getting the data into a format compatible with common tools, including doing calculations and summarizing data. These tasks can be a substantial challenge with non-standard or very large datasets.

This workshop will enable participants to use new tools in the R toolbox, the tidyr and dplyr packages, to easily coax their data into formats appropriate for further analysis and plotting.

Visualizing the data is the next key step in the analysis pipeline. Workshop participants will learn how to master ggplot2 to produce publication quality figures providing in depth insight into their data. Further R productivity tips and tricks are provided throughout.
