| Summary of thesis | Better preservation procedures for marginal kidney grafts could increase the number of viable kidneys and increase patient survival. We recently discovered that carbohydrate-loading for 7 days promoted recovery following kidney and hepatic ischemia and reperfusion (IRI), models of surgical stress. We have made progress towards understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms. |
